5 STARS -Maybe in another lifetime’ – a wondrously spooky time-travel horror tale ~California author Chris Coppel is the author of many screenplays and has taught advanced screenwriting at UCLA. He is also an accomplished drummer and guitarist. His chosen genre for this novels is horror stories and to date he has published FAR FROM BURDEN DELL, LUCK, THE LODGE, LAKEBED, LEGACY, and now LIFETIMES – the sequel to his story initiated in LEGACY.

Coppel’s cinematic vision soars in this fascinating story that incorporates time travel and occult themes so successfully. This story opens with the character Sylvie in a terrifying situation as she views her new bathing suit in a mirror: ‘The surface of the mirror shimmered. Only for a millisecond, but it was enough for Sylvie to have noticed. She stepped closer and touched the glass…two wizened arms reached our form within the mirror and grabbed her…”Come with me,” the thing said in a raspy whisper. “It’s time for me to feed.”…The ancient mouth formed into a twisted smile as Sylvie began gliding towards the mirror…’ That wonderful, creepy scene opens the door to the story that continues the story of time-travelling ex-Marine Craig Edmonds, and his battle to save himself and his family from the evil witch, Beyath. Or as Coppel distils the plot, ‘Able to harness both time and space, Beyath returns from the dead to hunt down Craig Edmonds and destroy everything he knows and loves. Trapped in an alternate timeline, with no wife or family to support him, Craig is a wreck and bent on self-destruction. But with the help of a friend from his original lifetime, he slowly comes to terms with his new reality, and the two of them decide to go back to 1968 to finally destroy Beyath, not just in one timeline, but across all timelines. The question is: will they succeed?’

Fast paced and well sculpted, this is a horror story that rises to the top of the genre. Chris Coppel reinforces his stature and talent as an author with the gift!

5 STARS - Fun Read ~ Lifetimes by Chris Coppel is a well-written and quite creepy book that fits well into the science fiction and horror genres. The stunning combination of these two themes mixes well here, with a scary vibe right from the beginning. This book is the sequel to Legacy where you have ex-Marine Craig Edmonds as a time traveller trying to save his family from an evil witch. Now alone in a different time, Craig must continue to fight to annihilate the witch at any cost. Gripping from the beginning pages, this time travel story is riveting and well-constructed with great characters and a depth of development rarely seen in time-travel novels. Highly recommend.

5 STARS - A well-crafted sci-fi time-travel horror tale. ~“Lifetimes” by Chris Coppel is the follow-up to “Legacy” which tells the tale of time-traveling ex-Marine Craig Edmonds' fight to defend himself and his family from the evil witch Beyath.

To summarize the synopsis: Beyath, who has the power to manipulate time and space, rises from the dead in order to find Craig Edmonds and obliterate everything he holds dear. Craig is a complete mess and on a path of self-destruction because he is trapped in an alternate timeline and has no wife or family to care for him. But as he slowly adjusts to his new reality with assistance from a friend from his initial lifetime, the two of them decide to travel back in time to 1968 in order to finally wipe out Beyath across all timelines. The question is: will they succeed?

Time travel is one of those fun and intriguing concepts that has found its way into almost every genre. Obviously, there is time travel in science fiction, but it can also be found in the horror, action, drama, comedy, and even romance genres. So there’s an apparent attraction to the idea of time travel and it’s been explored in a variety of different ways. Therefore the real challenge for a writer is to take this familiar subject and give us something new and fresh – something we haven’t seen before. I’m thrilled to say that’s exactly what Chris Coppel has done with this mind-bending sci-fi. “Lifetimes” takes the familiar device of time travel to new places through a brilliantly original narrative.

5 STARS - Scary ~ Chris Coppel's latest work is Scarey! He brilliantly mingles time travel and horror together, producing one heck of a thrilling novel. Evilness abounds as main character Craig is whipped and whistled throughout the ages by evil incarnate itself, Beyath. The time traveling sequences are expertly done, adding a colorful flare to one of my favorite genres. The pacing is good, the characters well developed, some spilling over from the previous novel, which is referenced as background information. The occult settings are riveting, grabbing hold of you from the first pages and keeping you tensed up and wondering throughout the remainder of the book. This is the perfect book for this time of year, so eat your Halloween candy and read this horror in a dimly lit room at around midnight. You'll get the feel for it soon enough.

5 STARS - Brilliantly Carved Time Travel Book ~The book continues the witch haunt from the previous book but with new challenges which ultimately prove to be a blessing in disguise. The witch is alive in this new timeline with no help available from the present time. There are new crushes, a shaky time portal, and an evil and cunning opponent. The heroes would have to overcome their phobias and gather all the strengths to defeat the evil.

5 STARS - This is a sequel horror scifi type of book ~ Even though it's a sequel, you don't necessarily need to read the first, though it is helpful. Combining time travel, horror and sci fi all in one, it is a very interesting and entertaining read. I was intrigued originally by the clock and loved that imagery. I was able to visualize what I was reading which I also loved.
